COMMANDING OFFICER’S UPDATE
Mid-Year Message to 395 Griffon Squadron Cadets, Staff, Parents and Families
As we move into the second half of the training year, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible progress and dedication of our cadets. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to personal growth have been truly impressive, and I look forward to seeing you continue to develop your skills and leadership in the months ahead.
We have an exciting schedule ahead of us, filled with valuable training and unique experiences. Beyond our regular training nights, we have things from familiarization flying to our Mess Dinner, the Griffon Coin Parade, and the Spring Field Training Exercise, there will be many opportunities to challenge yourselves and build lasting memories. Cadets will also have the chance to participate in the Effective Speaking Competition, Band level testing, Karate, Drill, Orienteering, and our Annual Ceremonial Review, each of which highlights the diverse skills and teamwork that define our Squadron.
None of this would be possible without the ongoing dedication of our Parents Committee and the families of our cadets. Your support—whether behind the scenes, at events, or through encouragement at home—makes a tremendous difference in the success of our program. Thank you for all that you do.
I also want to acknowledge the hard work of our staff, who continue to deliver engaging and meaningful training. Their commitment to excellence ensures that our cadets receive the best possible experience, and I am grateful for their leadership and mentorship.
With so many fantastic opportunities ahead, I encourage each of you to make the most of the remainder of the training year. Stay engaged, challenge yourselves, and take pride in being part of 395 Griffon Squadron.
Looking forward to seeing all that we will accomplish together!
Succeeded as One!
Sincerely,
Capt Deborah Smart, CD, MA, BA

COMMANDING OFFICER’S UPDATE
The training year is going by very fast so far. Supply has been very busy getting cadets into uniform with many more to go. Supply will come and get the cadets throughout the training night when uniforms are available and ready to be handed out. Each week a few more cadets are getting their uniforms.
We have had a very large influx of new cadets join the squadron. As such getting uniforms out to everyone is taking a little longer than anticipated. Please be patient, the Supply staff are working as fast as they can with the uniform items we have on hand and the ones we have ordered as well.
Please ensure you are checking the communication board inside the unit on a regular basis. Lists will be posted if we are needing to see any cadets for additional paperwork, important information is also posted there throughout the night for reference.
